Activities Table
Age group: 3 years-5 years
Before beginning the activity print out a few of Andy Goldsworthy’s artworks and present them to the children and talk about them about it, like what do you see? And what has he used?
Materials/Resources:
· Table
· Leaves
· Mud
· Pinecones
· Bark
· Sticks
· Flowers
· Pebbles
Process:
1. Fix up table outside, placing different kinds of objects like leaves, bark, pinecones, mud, sticks, flowers and pebbles
2. While playing outside, get a small group of children to participate and allow them to create different pieces from the materials in front of them
3. While this is happening ask them questions like what are they making? And bring in Andy Goldsworthy into it and ask questions like doesn’t this remind you of different land arts?
4. Allow them to explore and experiment the different ways of connecting the materials and creating their own art work
Outcomes EYLF:
Outcome 2- Children are connected with and contribute to their own world.
· Children develop a sense of belonging to groups and communities and an understanding of the reciprocal rights and responsibilities necessary for active community participation
· Children become socially responsible and show respect for the environment
