Exploring and Creating
Age group: 6 years-8 Years
Before you start activity show the children this YouTube clip:

Material/Resources:
· Park or Oval
· Leaves
· Bark
· Sticks
· Flowers
· Pebbles
· Rocks
· Mud
Process:
1. Before setting off to the park show the children the video as shown above. While they are watching it ask them questions on what they are seeing? and what is this man doing with his artwork? And what is happening with the artwork?
2. After the video is finished take them over to the park or the yard if you don’t want to go to a park
3. Once there explain to the children that you want them to break into groups of 3-4
4. Once that is done explain to them that you want them to explore the expanse of the area and to retrieve different objects like leaves, bark, rocks, pebbles, flowers and stick to take back to the class room
5. Once everything is collected take them back to the class room and get them to create their own Land Art using the materials they have collected and nothing else
6. While this is happening walk around the classroom and ask different children what they are creating? And why are they creating it? What does it mean to them?

- Can they work effectively in a partnership
- Are they able to follow instructions
- Do they engage with the activity or simply just sit there and do nothing
Outcomes EYLF:
Outcome 2- Children are connected with and contribute to their own world.
· Children develop a sense of belonging to groups and communities and an understanding of the reciprocal rights and responsibilities necessary for active community participation
· Children become socially responsible and show respect for the environment
Outcome 4- Children are confident and involved learners
· Children develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity, cooperation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination, and reflexivity
· Children resource their own learning through connecting with people, place, technologies and natural and processed materials
Outcome 5- Children are effective communicators
· Children express ideas and make meaning using a range of media
· Children interact verbally and non-verbally with others for a range of purposes
